The SVE system was taken out of operation after the July 23, 2004 monitoring
event in order to repair the system and to simultaneously go into the non-
operational timeframe of the "pulsed" mode operation Pulsed operation can
allow soil vapor concentrations to rebound during the intervals of non-
operation
The August 2004 quarterly groundwater-monitoring event indicated that the
groundwater elevation decreased approximately 1 73 feet from the previous
' event performed in April 2004 During this event, the average depth to
groundwater was 29 46 feet bgs (-19 69 feet msl) The groundwater flow was
easterly at a gradient of approximately 0 006 foot per linear foot BTEX and
' TPH-G concentrations increased in well MW-2, presumably due to the air
sparging/soil venting system being temporarily out of service BTEX and
TPH-G concentrations were not detected in the samples collected from wells
MW-1, MW-3, or MW-4 The only oxygenate detected was TBA in well
MW-2
The December 2004 quarterly groundwater-monitoring event indicated that
the groundwater elevation decreased approximately 0 77 foot from the
previous event performed in August 2004 During this event, the average
depth to groundwater was 30 22 feet bgs (-20 46 feet msl) The groundwater
flow was easterly at a gradient of approximately 0 005 foot per linear foot
BTEX and TPH-G concentrations increased in well MW-2, presumably due to
the air sparging/soil venting system being temporarily out of service BTEX
and TPH-G were not detected in the samples collected from wells MW-1,
MW-3, or MW-4 Oxygenates were not detected during this event The air
' sparging/soil venting system was placed back into operation on December 15,
2004
The March 2005 quarterly groundwater-monitoring event indicated that the
groundwater elevation increased approximately 1 55 feet from the previous
event performed in December 2004 During this event, the average depth to
' groundwater was 28 68 feet bgs (48 91 feet msl) The groundwater flow was
easterly at a gradient of approximately 0 005 foot per linear foot BTEX and
TPH-G concentrations decreased in well MW-2 BTEX and TPH-G were not
' detected in the samples collected from wells MW-1, MW-3, or MW-4
Oxygenates were not detected during this monitoring event There were no
' operational or maintenance issues with the SVE system during this period
Although, after the groundwater samples were collected, the SVE system did
not function properly upon re-engagement Maintenance of the system was
' scheduled
The May 2005 quarterly groundwater-momtonng event indicated that the
' groundwater elevation increased approximately 2 34 feet from the previous
event performed in March 2005 During this event, the average depth to
groundwater was 26 34 feet bgs (46 58 feet msl) The groundwater flow was
' s
Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report
July 2005
Prepared for SARA LEE BAKERY GROUP,INC Prepared by Philip Services Corporation
Investigative and Quarterly Report lard Quarterly Report 07_2005(f::nal) September 23,2005
