1 - - <br /> to SJCEHD on May 14, 2002 in the March 2002 Subsurface Site Investigation <br /> Report The report included the following highlights <br /> • Subsurface soils in the vicinity of the site were primarily composed of <br /> silt and clay to at least 50 feet <br /> 0 Groundwater was first encountered in a clayey matrix, typically at 30 <br /> to 35 feet below grade Groundwater was slow to yield, but typically <br /> ' rose under confined pressure to about 23 to 25 feet below grade <br /> • Groundwater flow was easterly at a gradient of approximately 0 0026 <br /> foot per linear foot <br /> • BTEX concentrations in soil samples collected from the vadose zone <br /> ' were lower than the concentrations in soil samples collected below <br /> groundwater <br /> • TPH-G concentrations in soil samples collected from the vadose zone <br /> were higher than those obtained below groundwater The data suggest <br /> degradation of BTEX in the vadose zone <br /> The lateral extent of petroleum-impacted soil appeared to be narrowly <br /> confined in the vicinity of the former UST The vertical extent of <br /> impact was approximately 50 to 55 feet <br /> 0 Oxygenate compounds have not been detected in any soil sample <br /> ' • BTEX and TPH-G concentrations in groundwater at the MW-2 <br /> location were elevated <br /> ' • BTEX and TPH-G concentrations in groundwater at the MW-1, MW- <br /> 3, MW-4, and PH-8 locations were relatively low or were not detected <br /> • BTEX and TPH-G concentrations in groundwater at the PH-6 and PH- <br /> 7 locations may be a result of previous retail gasoline operations at the <br />' 1725 El Dorado Street property <br /> • Oxygenate compounds TBA, MTBE, and DIPE have been detected <br />' sporadically in groundwater samples <br /> SJCEHD concurred with PSC's investigation findings and requested a work <br /> plan to remediate the site to "pre-release" conditions in their June 11, 2002 <br /> correspondence PSC submitted a Pilot Testing Work Plan to SJCEHD on <br /> July 23, 2002 The plan presented remedial alternatives and proposed <br /> performing an air sparging and soil venting pilot test to evaluate that method <br /> Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report <br /> May 2005 <br /> Prepared for SARA LEE BAKERY CROUP,INC Prepared by Philip Services Corporation <br /> Investigative and Quarterly Report 12nd Quarterly Report 05_20C5(final) September 23,2005 <br />
