3 SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Groundwater-monitoring has been conducted at this facility since 1999 to evaluate
' groundwater quality A summary of the current site conditions and a
recommendation for subsequent work are as follows
' • During this event, the depths to groundwater among the wells average at about
30 22' (-20 46 MSL) The §roundwater flow was generally easterly at a
gradient of about 5 04 x 10" feet per linear foot
' • Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes, and TPH-G concentrations in well
MW-2 increased since the previous event
' + The current BTEX concentrations were evaluated against the California
Drinking Water MCLS Based on the current groundwater-monitoring data,
the MCLs for benzene, toluene, and xylenes have been exceeded in well MW-
' 2
• No oxygenates were detected, but the detection limits were elevated in well
' MW-2
Based on the results of the April 2004 sampling event, it appears that the remediation
system sufficiently works in removing the contamination The system was taken out
of operation after July 23, 2004 in order to operate the system in a "pulsed" mode
' The August 2004 sampling event occurred while the system was disengaged, as well
as the December 2004 event The contaminant concentrations increased upon the
temporary disengagement of the remediation system The system was placed back
' into operation in the "pulse" mode on December 15, 2004 FSC recommends that the
current quarterly groundwater-monitoring plan and the air sparging/soil venting
continue as is
i'
.
December 2004
Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report
' Earthgrams Baking Companies Inc
(Former Kilpatrick s Bakeries,Inc)
1717 South Center Street
Stockton,California
' Prepared for SARA LEE BAKERY GROUP Prepared by Philip Services Corp
H VENV\624001331!2 U82EGTmjects\Stockton Center SHnvesugauve and Quaricrly Repons\Quanerly Repan 12_2004 doc January 18,2005
