TPH-g was detected'in ground water samples collected from monitoring wells MW-1,
MW-2A, MW-2B, MW-3A and MW-313 TPH-g concentrations ranged from 87 µg/l in
MW-2A to`230,000 µg/1 in MW-1 Benzene was detected in samples collected from wells
MW-1, MW-2A, MW-213, MW-3A and MW-3B at concentrations of 34,000 µg/l, 12 gg/l,
1,100 µg/l, 2,200 µg/l and 460 4g11, respectively Toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes
were detected in the groundwater samples collected from monitoring wells NIW-1,MW-2A,
MW-2B, MW-3A and MW-3B The highest concentrations were detected in the sample
collected from MW-1 at concentrations of 46,000 µg/1(toluene), 2,300 µgd(ethylbenzene)
and 12,000 µg/1 (total xylenes)
• 1,2-DCA was detected in ground water samples collected from MW-1, MW-2A,MW-2B
and MW-3B at concentrations of 2,900 µg/1, 5 0 µg/1, 310 µg/1 and 7 0 µg/l, respectively w r
' EDB was not detected in any of the ground water samples collected during the December
2001 monitoring event
' Laboratory results of water samples analyzed for petroleum hydrocarbons are summarized in
Tables 2 and 3 The laboratory reports for the quarterly monitoring event (MAI Lab IDs 84755
through 84759) QA/QC reports and chain-of-custody form are included in Appendix B
' 5.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
The findings of the December 2001 site investigation event include the following
' Contamination b TPH- and BTEX constituents was encountered m groundwater samples
• y g "
collected,-from the five on site monitoring wells (MW-1, MW-2A, MW-213, MW-3A and
' MW-313) Concentrations as high as 230,000 µg/l TPH-g, 34,000 µg/1 benzene, 46,000 µg/1
toluene, 2;300 µg/l ethylbenzene and 12,000 µg/1 total xylenes were detected
• 1,2-DCA was detected in ground water samples collected from monitoring wells MW-1,
MM
, W-2A, W-2B and MW-3B at concentrations as high as 2,900 µg/1 (MW-1) EDB was
W not detected m any of the ground water samples collected during the fourth quarter 2001 r'
monitoring event
• Concentrations of contamination have remained relatively stable in monitoring wells MW-1,
MW-213,MW-3A and MW-3B since ground water monitoring began in May 1998 However,
concentrations have steadily decreased in MW-2A during the same period
• The horizontal and vertical extent of contamination related to the former UST has not yet
been defined in soil or ground water
