r t <br /> 30 November 2005 " <br /> 'AGE-NC Project No 00-0769 <br />'n Page 2 of 8 <br />' On 19 May 2005,a Solinst water level meter was used to measure the depth to water in all the wells <br /> to the nearest 0 01-foot,relative to the tops of the well casings(Table 1) Between 7 and 12 gallons <br /> of ground water(a minimum of three casing-water volumes per well)were evacuated(purged)from <br /> single-level wells MW-1, MW-2B, and MW-313, and between 39 and 46 gallons were purged'from = <br /> deep,single-level wells MW-2A and MW-3A,utilizing disposable polyethylene bailers or a Waterra <br /> inertial pump equipped with s/a-incldiameter polyethylene tubing and a check valve Multi-level <br /> monitoring wells MW-4 through MW-9 were purged utilizing the Waterra inertial pump equipped <br />' with %-inch diameter polyethylene tubing and a check valve Approximately 0 5 to 5 5 gallons of ' <br /> ground water(a minimum of three casing-water volumes per well)were purged from the multi-level <br /> monitoring wells <br /> Temperature,pH,and conductivity were measured at regular purge-volume intervals from each well <br />' using an Oakton water analyzer Field logs are provided in Appendix B Purged water was <br /> temporarily stored on-site in properly labeled, Department of Transportation (DOT)-approved <br /> 55-gallon drums pending proper disposal <br /> ' r <br /> 2 2 COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES <br /> On 19 and 20 May 2005, ground water samples were collected from the nine monitoring wells <br /> onsite Wells MW-213 and MW-313 were evacuated utilizing new, 2-inch diameter disposable <br /> polyethylene bailers Samples were collected from wells MW-1, MW-2A, MW-3B, and MW-4A <br /> through MW-913 utilizing a Waterra inertia pump and 3/8-inch diameter polyethylene tubing The <br /> samples were transferred into three, 40-milliliter EPA-approved volatile organic analysis (VOA) <br /> `vials containing 0 5 ml 18%hydrochloric acid solution as a preservative Care was taken to ensure <br /> that visible air bubbles were not present in the vials after filling and capping The sample vials were <br /> labeled with the monitoring well designation, date, time of sampling, and the sampler's initials <br />' Following collection, samples were placed in a chilled container and transported under chain of <br /> custody to Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories (CTEL), a California Department of Health 3, <br /> Services(DHS)-certified analytical laboratory,for analysis Samples were analyzed for the following <br /> constituents <br /> • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA <br /> Method 8015 Modified, and' <br /> • <br /> ' Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) an&the fuel additives methyl <br />' tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), <br /> tertiary-amyl methyl ether(TAME),tertiary-butyl alcohol(TBA), 1,2-dibromoethane(EDB), <br />' '1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA), ethanol, and methanol in accordance with EPA Method <br /> 8260B <br />' Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br /> F E w <br /> r <br />
