7 r
w
4
30 November 2005 ,
. AGE-NC Project No 00-0769
r L i
3.0. FINDINGS
Ground water elevation, flow direction, and gradient were Inferred from field data The hydrocarbon
Impact to ground water was quantified by laboratory analysis of ground water samples
' 3 1 GROUND WATER ELEVATION AND GRADIENT
Depth to ground water was between 24 14 feet (MW-8A) and 28 52 feet(MW-5E) below the tops
of the well casings on 19 May 2005 Ground water elevations ranged from 12 52 feet(MW-5A) to
15 55 feet (MW-5E) below mean sea level (MSL) Ground water elevation data is presented in
Table 1, contoured ground water elevation data is presented in Figures 3 through 6 The elevation
' and gradient for each hydrogeologic unit is described below
K
3 1 1 Hydrogeologic Unit 1
Based on ground water elevation data collected in HU-1 Upper Zone (25 feet to 51 feet bsg), the
I0potentiometric surface slopes uniformly to the east Ground water is inferred to flow along this plane
in an easterly direction at a hydraulic gradient of 0 003 foot per foot'(ft/ft)across the majority of the
site, and at a hydraulic gradient of 0 002 ft/ft across the northern portion (Figure 3)
3 1 2 Hydrogeologic Unit 2
1
Based on ground water elevation data collected in HU-2 (I t2 feet to 125 feet bsg), the
potentiometnc surface 15 characterized by a north-south trending ridge, causing the inferred ground
water flow direction to range from west, to south, to east at gradient of 0 002 ft/ft to 0 003 ft/A
(Figure 4) ,
3 13 , Hydrogeologic Unit.3
Based on ground water elevation data collected in HU-34140 feet to 160 feet bsg),the ground water
flow direction is generally towards the southwest and southeast at gradients between approximately
0 002 ft/ft and 0 006 ft/ft (Figure 5)
c
1 1 1
r - Advanced GeoEnvtronmentai,Inc
< f
J 3
i
, 1
