JAN. 8. 2007 1 ,40PM h'ARC REAL ESTATE 879-'7213 NO, 396 P. 13
July 15, 1995
Fags 2.
were removed during d=0 The site is currently ars asphalt paved parking lot
owzied by and servicing the We11s Fargo Bank located immediately to the south.
A limited subsurface investigation was conducted by L.M, Swift for Wells Fuge and is
detailed in a Phase I Reporr, Addendum 1, dated Marcia 29, 1994. The investigation
included an underground electronic survey of the parking lot to determixte if any "
absndoned USTs existed beneath the site, cad exploratory borings to collect sail and
Smuridwater samples. The underground survey detected no large metal anamahms, and
concluded that there were no USTs beneath the site. Howayer, hydrocarboar=m Mcted
groundwater was detected in the north=portion of dile site.
A Phase IEnvironmental Site Assessment, datod December 16, 1994, was prepared by
Enviros Inc., for Unocal. The site assessment concluded that twelve sites,is the vicinity
of the Unocal sats, leave been identfied as havir g impacted soil and groundwater.
However, none of these sites were identzEed in the immediate upgradimt directions f m
r'
the Unocal site, Additionally,the-Mort concluded tW two former service stations! ,
were located wross from the Unocal site;a formes Shell Oil service station at the
northwest corner of 11 m Street and Central Avenue during the period of approximately
1949 to 1962, and a fanner service station 06ssibly Chevron)at the northeast cmrner of
I V: and Central Avenue during the period of approximately 1913 to at list 1962.. '
,1n May 1996 nine exploratory soil boxings were drilled and three groundwater
monitoring walls wero installed by PEG at rho site. Exploratory test pitting was
performed and two abandoned UST's were =untmed at the northern property
boundary, beneath the 111 Street sidewalk. A report doc'=entmg the soil arab
groundwater investigatioa was submitted.to Tlwcal and San xoaquin Cauntylu
December 1995.
On September 6, 1996,Unocal submitted a corrective action plan to addtr
hydrocarbon-impacted soils that=y be encountered dwin,5 removal of the USTs. Two ,
ab=Aoned 530-gallon USTa wet removed in Novernber 1996. A third UST was ,
ericounterad during the r=oval activities and was properly abodoued in plata by grout
injection. One gromadwater mouitorizsg wall was installed in Decertxbsr 1996 in the
location o£the rainoved USTs to evaluate soil axed groundwater quality.
Based on r®cent quarterly Woundwater monitoring data collected by 0ettler Ryan,ft=
the site, depth to water is between 8 amd 10 feet below ground surface(bp),
PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK .
The scope ofworlc proposed for this investigation will znclude the installation otwo
groundwater monitoring wells sad one continuous core soil baring with a discrete water
sample to delineate the lateral and vertical extent of hydrocarbons and solvents in the '
Nil and groundwater. A contin0us core will be collected from the sail boringto
investigate geological,conditions on site.
