If groundwater is encountered, costs may need to
be adjusted.
• The proposed scope of work and cost estimate is based on the previously described scope of
work. If additional services are deemed necessary, the client will be notified immediately.
SCHEDULE
At the present time we are in a position to begin this project immediately, weather permitting. We
will complete our Phase II report within approximately three to six weeks following authorization
by the client,right-of-entry approval, and PHS/EHD approval.
We can begin the geotechnical portion of this project following permit approval from the County.
Permit approval generally requires from three to five days from the time of application submittal.
We will make our verbal recommendations available as soon as our field and/or laboratory testing
is completed. A report will follow approximately 1 to 2 weeks after our field work is completed.
LIMITATIONS
The proposed scope of work requested by San Joaquin Regional Rail Commission is limited to
evaluating environmental concerns associates with the potential presence of hazardous materials in
conjunction with the transfer or financing of the referenced property which is only a portion of the
entire development. This limited environmental evaluation does not include sampling and analysis
or other services other than those specifically included. Other environmental or geotechnical
investigative services can be provided for additional fees in this proposal. The scope of services
described here is not intended to be inclusive, to identify all potential concerns, or to eliminate the
possibility of environmental problems. Within current technology, no level of assessment can
show conclusively that a property or its structures are completely free of hazardous substances.
Therefore, Kleinfelder cannot offer a certification that the property is clear of environmental
liability. Kleinfelder will assume no responsibility or liability whatsoever for any claim, loss of
property value, damage, or injury which results from pre-existing hazardous materials being
encountered or present on the project site, or from the discovery of such hazardous materials.
Kleinfelder offers a range of investigative and engineering services to suit the varying needs of our
clients. Although risk can never be eliminated, more detailed and extensive investigations yield
more information, which may help understand and manage the degree of risk. Since such detailed
services involve greater expense, our clients participate in determining the level of service which
20-4054-01.E01-G01/2017PO36 Page 6 of 7 Copyright 1997 Kleinfelder,Inc.
