One 55-gallon drum partially full of liquid hazardous waste was labelled with "hazardous
waste", "flammable liquid", "ARCO 2186" and "petroleum contact water". The drum label
did not have the facility address and accumulation start date. All hazardous waste
containers shall be marked with the following information: 1. the words "Hazardous Waste".
2. name and address of generator. 3. hazardous properties. 4. physical state. 5. composition
(contents). 6. accumulation start date. Immediately label these containers and ensure that
all containers are marked with all the required information. Since it cannot be determined
how long the drum has been on site, immediately contact a licensed hazardous waste hauler
to dispose of this waste under manifest and submit a copy of the manifest to the EHD by
March 22, 2011. The liquid hazardous waste drum was labelled with the required information on
February 28, 201 1. A photograph is attached for your review and records. The drum was removed
by an authorized hauler on March 8, 2011. A copy of the manifest that has been signed by the
Designated Facility owner will be forwarded to you as soon as it is available.
It is our policy to address deficiencies, issues of concern, and/or agency requests regarding our retail
facilities immediately. With the submittal of this letter, it is our understanding that the item(s) of alleged
non-compliance has been resolved.
