' 24 March 2015 • •
AGE Project No. 14-3325
' collection. The vacuum chamber was sealed and the vacuum pump was then attached
to the vacuum outlet port of the chamber. Vacuum was applied to the chamber to create
negative pressure around the Tedlar bag, which inflated and allowed the soil-vapor
sample to enter directly into the bag via the inlet port. When the sample was collected,
the negative pressure in the chamber was reduced and the sample bag was sealed,
labeled, logged on a chain of custody form, and placed into a dry cooler (room
' temperature). All of the collected soil-vapor samples were delivered to Cal Tech
Environmental Laboratories (CTEL) and analyzed for the following constituents:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with
EPA Modified Method 8015M; and
• Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) in accordance
twith EPA Modified Method 8015m and 8260B.
' SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION
Soil samples were collected from boring SB-1 through SB-4 to a depth of 20 feet,
' sampling at 10-foot intervals, Soil samples were collected using a 1.25-inch core
sampling assembly loaded with one 2-foot acetate liner. After collection, 6-inch portions
of the continuous samples selected for analysis were separated, the ends covered with
' Teflon sheets, capped and sealed with tapes.
Sample sleeves were labeled with soil boring location, depth, time, date, and sampler's
' initials, and then placed in a chilled container. Soil samples were transported under
chain-of-custody to Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories (CTEL), a California
Department of Public Health-Certified laboratory and analyzed for:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline, diesel and oil (TPH) in
' accordance with EPA-method 8015
• Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in accordance with EPA-methods 8015m
and 82608.
' Soil sample duplicates were extruded into plastic bags and field-screened for the
presence of organic vapors using an organic vapor meter (OVM), equipped with a
' photo-ionization detector (PID). Additionally, the soil was visually classified in
accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS). PID readings and soil
classifications were recorded on boring logs, provided in Appendix B.
' EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION
' Prior to sample collection, equipment was thoroughly rinsed with clean water after being
washed with a solution of Alconox. Probing rods and drilling equipment were thoroughly
' cleaned prior to soil probe boring advancement.
Advanced GeoEnvironmen[nl,Inc.
