STI External Tank Inspection
UPRR French Camp
Tank No.TNKD-0829
Antea Group Project No. UP03061T antea'g rou p
APPURTENANCE
The tank appurtenances were inspected, and no relevant problems were found. Minor rust staining was
identified on the manway cover on the side of the tank, however metal corrosion was not present.
ACCESS STRUCTURE
The access structure including fixed attached ladder and overtank walkway with railing was inspected, and no
relevant problems were identified.
ASSOCIATED PIPING
The inflow and outflow piping was inspected, and no relevant problems were identified.
SPILL CONTROL DEVICES AND COMPONENTS
The spill control structure/concrete dike floor and walls were inspected, and no relevant problems were
identified. The tank is not equipped with overfill alarms for the tank control system, however an automatic pump
shut off control is in place that will shut off the inflow pump at approximately 90%of tank volume. No more
than 8,675 gallons of fuel is stored in the tank at a time, representing 87%of total tank capacity.
LIQUID LEVEL GAUGES
The liquid level monitoring system was inspected, and no relevant problems were identified with its operation.
The liquid level of the tank is monitored by a Varec tape/float level gauge that is interlocked to the pump shut off
control. The monitoring system was operating as designed.
SUITABILITY FOR CONTINUED SERVICE
Based upon the findings of the Formal External Tank Inspection and Ultrasonic(UT)thickness measurements
collected during the inspection,TNKD-0829 is determined to be suitable for continued service according to the
STI SP001 Standard for Inspection of Aboveground Storage Tanks.
2.4 ULTRASONIC (UT) EXAMINATION
Ultrasonic(UT)thickness measurements did not reveal any significant thickness deviation or variation in
thicknesses, with exeption of thickness measurements of the roof. The following calculations were based on the
tank being put into use 24 years prior to this inspection. No tank plate was present. Nominal thicknesses were
estimated based on UL 142 classification.
XINOGEN
7 us_ant cagroup.com
