O. Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Subject: Excavation Soil Samples - Mid-Cal Leasing
1649 East Channel Street, Stockton, California
Dear Ms. Meays:
Enclosed are the laboratory reports for the soil samples collected
during excavation procedures at the referenced site. The samples
were collected in clean 2-inch by 3-inch brass tubes. The sample
locations were chosen at your direction.
All samples were transported in a chilled container, under chain-
of-custody to Sparger Technology, Inc. (STI) and were analyzed for
total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH as gasoline) and volatile
aromatics (BTE&X) in accordance with EPA methods 8015m and 8020,
respectively.
The initial soil samples were collected on August 31, 1993 . Ten
(10) soil samples were collected from the sidewalls and floor of
the excavation. Contamination was detected in samples from the west
wall and floor of the excavation. The laboratory results are
detailed in STI 's report dated September 10, 1993 .
After further excavation of the floor and west wall of the
excavation removed additional contaminated soil, confirming soil
samples were collected on September 21, 1993 . Two soil samples were
collected from the floor and three were collected from the west
sidewall of the excavation.
The confirming samples indicate that soil contamination was
successfully removed from the site. only one sample, B5-39,
collected from a depth of 39 feet, had any detectable contamination
Benzene was detected at 0. 006 gg/g (ppm) and toluene was detected
at 0. 007 ppm. However, these concentrations are just above
detection limits of 0. 005 ppm and should not pose a significant
health risk. We estimate that less than 10 to 20 cubic yards of
contaminated soil remains at the site and this soil probably has an
average benzene/toluene concentration of 0.005 or less.
A complete report detailing the excavation procedures and sample
results is currently being prepared and will be included in a
quarterly report to be submitted to the PHS/EHD.
1 q5'q0`
Full Spectrum Environmental Services•Hydrogeology
