• i <br /> i <br /> 10 February 1993 <br /> (GeoAudit CV 43C5-1. 61) <br /> Page 3 of 4 <br /> 9) Log auger returns and soil samples in the middle and upper <br /> brass tubes in accordance with the Unified Soil Classif ication <br /> System. <br /> 10) Steam-clean auger flights after each boring to prevent cross <br /> contamination. <br /> 11) Drill cuttings will be placed on plastic sheeting and stored <br /> on-site pending analytical results. <br /> 12) The borings will be completed as groundwater monitoring wells <br /> in accordance with the design shown in Figure 3 . <br /> 13) Survey the top of the well casings to determine their relative <br /> elevations. <br /> 14) No sooner than 48 hours after installation, measure to the <br /> nearest 0. 01 foot, the static water level in each well i <br /> relative to the top of the well casing. <br />• 15) Surge and purge the wells using a bailer or purge pump and <br /> measure water temperature, pH, and conductivity at one-gallon <br /> intervals. <br /> 16) Contain purged water in 55 gallon DOT drums and store on-site <br /> pending analytical results. <br /> 17) After water parameters have stabilized, collect a water sample <br /> from each well in one large amber bottle and two EPA-approved <br /> VOA vials capped with teflon-faced silicone septum. <br /> 18) Label and log water samples on a chain-of-custody form. <br /> 19) Store water samples on ice pending delivery to a state- <br /> certified laboratory. <br /> 20) Analyze soil and water samples for total petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons (TPH as gasoline) and volatile aromatics (BTEX) <br /> in accordance with EPA methods 8015m and 8020. <br /> 21) Submit a Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation Report, <br /> detailing the findings. <br />• <br />
