1
No petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in any of the samples
3.4.2 Groundwater Sampling, October 1993
On October 14, 1993, personnel from GeoAudit attempted to purge standing water from the
monitoring wells using a submersible pump However, because of heavy equipment
' operation at the site during excavation and soil disposal, the wells contained too much silt
and could not be purged Personnel returned to the site on October 18, 1993 to redevelop
the wells and perform the monitoring
' In October 1993, the
hydraulic gradient was calculated to be 0 0050 ft/ft directed S 720 E
Y
This gradient was steeper than the previous gradient of 0 0025 ft/ft, but the direction was
' nearly identical to the June 1993 direction of S 700 E No petroleum hydrocarbons were
detected in any of the samples
' 3.4.3 Groundwater Sampling, January 1994
' On January 14, 1994 each well was monitored and sampled for the fourth time Between
October 1993 and January 1994, groundwater rose approximately 2 5 feet in all wells The
gradient was calculated to be 0 00032 ft/ft, oriented due east
' Initially, benzene, toluene and xylenes were detected in MW-3 These results were
determined to be questionable by GeoAudit and the sample (MW-3/1-14-94)was reanalyzed
Upon reanalysis, no petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in the sample However, the
sample was reanalyzed after the holding time had expired
' 3.4.4 Groundwater Sampling, April 1994
On April 15, 1994,personnel from GeoAudit performed the quarterly monitoring at the site
Groundwater was highest in MW-2 and the flow direction was to the northwest The
calculated gradient is 0 00042 ft/ft oriented N 57° W The flow direction has shown
considerable past variations, shifting from south-southwest to northwest No petroleum
hydrocarbons were detected in any of the wells
3.4.5 Groundwater Sampling, September 1994
' At the request of the PHS/EHD, groundwater depth measurements were collected from the
site on a weekly basis between August 17 and September 7, 1994 Groundwater samples
rwere collected from each well on September 7, 1994,
Figures 4, 5, 6 and 7 illustrate the relative elevation of the piezometnc surface at the site
on August 17, 24, 31 and September 7, 1994, respectively Between August 17 and
Gcobpa[w.d,l srv,n..lsa
1"GI Re vd CERn 4SLSO.% 6
