L i <br />. 1 0 INTRODUCTION <br /> SECOR International Incorporated (SECOR) has prepared this report to present the results of the <br /> installation and start-up of a soil vapor extraction and treatment system at 440 West Charter Way, <br /> in Stockton, California (Figure 1) Texaco Refining and Marketing Inc (Texaco) currently owns <br /> and operates a gasoline service station and car wash at this site Previous environmental <br /> investigations performed by Groundwater Technology, Inc (GTT) of West Sacramento, California <br /> have identified the presence of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil and groundwater beneath the site <br /> Because several other sources to the groundwater contaminant plume have been identified in and <br /> around the intersection of Charter Way and Lincoln Avenue, interim soil remediation was <br /> approved for the site while a cooperative effort between all responsible parties is organized to <br /> address the impacted groundwater <br /> 12 Background <br /> In October 1988 during new construction activities, hydrocarbon impacted soil was observed <br /> a <br /> beneath two pump islands Soil beneath the eastern pump island was excavated to approximately <br /> 15 feet below ground surface (bgs) GTI collected samples from the sidewalls of the excavation <br /> and submitted the samples for laboratory analyses Results indicated that the sample collected <br /> from the bottom of the excavation (15 feet bgs) was impacted with gasoline hydrocarbons Diesel <br /> range hydrocarbons were not detected <br /> From May 1989 to present, twenty soil borings were drilled, sixteen groundwater monitor wells <br /> were installed, four nested vapor extraction wells were installed, and a vapor extraction test <br /> performed Locations of soil borings, groundwater monitor wells, and vapor extraction wells are <br /> shown on Figure 2 <br /> In June 1992, GTI performed a vapor extraction test (VET) utilizing the four nested vapor <br /> extraction wells According to GTI, the results of the VET indicated that vapor extraction is <br />. 440ASB RYr 1SECOR <br /> !ob No N0001-006.01 September I Z 1996 <br />
