•� September 9 , 1996 from beneath each hoist post after removal at approximately 8 feet bgs Soil samples were designated H1 through H4 One sample ( HT) was collected beneath the dual hoist hydraulic tank (approximately 35 gallons ) at 6 feet bgs and one sample ( SUMP) was collected beneath the oil/water separator at approximately 5 feet bgs Sample locations are shown in Figure 2 and chemical summaries are found in Tables A and B OVEREXCAVATION ACTIVITIES Soil remediation involved the limited excavation and removal of suspected or confirmed hydrocarbon impacted soils Soils were overexcavated from the fuel UST complex, center (dual post) hoist area, and former pump islands . Overexcavation and associated sampling activates were performed on September 11 , 1996 and October 9 , 1996 . Overexcavation and sampling activities were performed under the direction and observation of Harlin Knoll , inspector and representative with San Joaquin County Public Health Services Hoist Overexcavation On September 11, 1996 additional soil was excavated around the vicinity of the dual post hydraulic hoist where the initial sample H4 was collected. The soil around the former hoist was removed and the final excavation measured approximately 4 feet in width, 5 feet long and 8 1/5 feet in depth. Soil sample HX-8 . 5 was collected in the bottom of the excavation beneath former sample H4 . See Figure 3 for sample location and Table A for analytical summary. Fuel UST Overexcavation The original fuel UST excavation was extended vertically to approximately 17 to 18 feet bgs on September 11 , 1996 . Additional excavation bottom samples were collected and designated TXB1, TXB2 and TXB3 . Excavation sidewall samples designated TXSI through TXS6 were also collected at depths between 14 to 16 feet bgs as shown in Figure 3 Sample depths are found with chemical summaries in Table C After receiving chemical analytical data from September 11 , 1996 sampling, additional excavation was performed on October 9 , 1996 . Overexcavation continued along the southern sidewall approximately 5 feet and vertically to 19 feet bgs in the vicinity of former samples TXB1 and TXS3 A soil sample designated OXB1 was collected from the excavation bottom beneath former sample TXB1 at approximately 19 feet bgs . And sidewall sample OXS1 was collected at approximately 16 5 feet bgs in the vicinity of former sample TXS3 The final fuel UST excavation dimensions were approximately 37 Page 3
