Ms Lori Duncan Project No 880-039 IA
June 18, 2003
Page 5
Installation of Off-site Cross-gradient and Downgradient Wells
On April 2, 2003, two monitoring wells (MW-2R and MW-3R) were installed at the
locations shown on Figure 2 by Cascade Drilling (C57 #717510) using hollow-stem
auger techniques performed with a linuted access drill rig The two well borings were
drilled to a total depth of 30 feet bgs Soil samples were collected from the well borings
at 5-foot intervals for description and possible chemical analysis The monitoring wells
1 are constructed of 2-inch-diameter Schedule 40 PVC casing and 0 020-inch
machine-slotted well screen The wells are screened from approximately 15 to 30 feet
bgs The annular space around the screen is packed with RMC Pacific #3 sand to
1 approximately 2 feet above the top of screen The sandpack is followed by a 2-foot seal
of hydrated bentonite chips, then neat cement grout to approximately 1-foot bgs The
tops of the wells are protected by vault boxes and locking well caps The vault boxes are
installed flush with the ground surface, and are set in concrete
Three soil samples from each well boring were submitted to a laboratory for the analysis
of TPHg by EPA Method 8015B, and BTEX, DIPE, ETBE, MtBE, TAME, TBA,
1,2-DCA, and EDB, by EPA Method 8260B
Shaw developed newly installed wells MW-2R, MW-3R, and MW-4R (S&D) on
April 10, 2003 Field data collected during well development are included in
Attachment C
Upon completion of well construction, Morrow Surveying, a licensed surveyor, surveyed
the newly installed wells for location and elevation relative to mean sea level The
longitude and latitude locations of the wells were also obtained The survey data will be
uploaded into the State's Geotracker database, as required The surveyor's report is
' included at Attachment D
Air Sparge Testing
Shaw conducted an air sparge test on April 8, 2003 The SVE system was operating
during the sparge test Vapors were being extracted from vadose wells VW-2S and
11SACRFPJICOMMONIsacDP120031P9V8018800391A 3ae doc
