tl
Groundwater Sampling Procedures
P 9
' • Field activities and equipment utilization will be recorded on field report forms
• A disposable polyethylene or stainless steel bottom valve bailer will be used for
collection of each groundwater sample Polyethylene bailers will be discarded after
each sample is collected Stainless steel bailers will be washed between wells
using a bristle brush with a detergent rinse followed by two clear water rinses, and
a final deioruzed/distilled water rinse The bailers will be air dried or dried using
paper towels
1 • New nylon rope will be used to lower the bailers into the wells The nylon rope
will be discarded after each well
• Groundwater samples will be placed into laboratory-supplied containers containing
preservatives
1 • Groundwater will be discharged from the bailer via a bottom-emptying device
Discharge to the containers should be conducted in a manner to mimmize bubbling
and agitation of the liquid The containers will be filled to the top forming a
meniscus to minimize the headspace
• Water removed from the well will be contained in a portable polyethylene tank
The tank will be transported and stored at the IT office pending laboratory analysis
and disposal of the groundwater
Sample Retention and Analysts Procedures
e Chain of custody procedures, including the use of chain of custody forms, will be
used to document sample handling and transport from collection to delivery to the
laboratory for analysis
' O The samples will be placed on ice in an insulated chests overnight in the custody of
an IT employee The samples will be picked up within approximately 48 hours of
collection by a courier supplied by the laboratory, or will be delivered to the
laboratory by IT personnel within approximately 48 hours of collection The
samples will be transported to the laboratory in a motor vehicle
O Soil samples will be labeled with the boring number, and the sample collection
depth For example, "MW-211-10" represents monitoring well 4 collected at a
depth of 10 feet below the ground surface
Ir CORPORATION
' SAC 1N 1sacDP120021PRJ1PJ8188018800391A tab doe
(01020000)
A-4
1
