Ms Lori Duncan Project 880-039 lA <br /> March 13, 2002 <br /> Page 3 <br /> Permitting <br /> Monitoring well permits will be obtained from the SJCPHS/EHD In addition, an <br /> encroachment permit will a obtained from the Cof Stockton for the wells to be 'cated <br /> i b o City <br /> in Lincoln Street <br /> Deep Boring Installation <br /> A deep boring (B7) is proposed between wells VW2 and VW3 (Figure 3) to define the <br /> vertical `extent of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil and groundwater at the site The boring <br /> will be advanced using direct push drilling techniques This boring will be completed to a <br /> depth of approximately of 80 feet bgs or until two consecutive soil samples show absence <br /> of petroleum impact Continuous sampling will provide a complete lithologic description <br /> of subsurface conditions Should an aquitard be encountered the boring will be terminated <br /> to avoid compromising the lower aquifer Following boring completion a discrete <br /> groundwater sample will be collected to evaluate vertical extent of impacted groundwater <br /> Monitoring Well Installation <br /> Two groundwater monitoring wells (MW-2 and MW-3) will be installed at the general <br /> locations shown on Figure 3 The soil borings will be drilled using 8-inch hollow-stem <br /> auger drilling equipment All down-hole drilling and sampling equipment will be <br /> steam-cleaned following the completion of the soil boring All work will be done in <br /> Maccordance with stipulations of permits obtained from the SJCPHS/EHD <br /> Groundwater at the site currently ranges between 19 and 21 feet bgs The wells will be <br /> drilled to approximately 30 feet below ground surface (bgs) and will be screened from <br /> approximately 15 to 30 feet bgs Groundwater monitoring wells will be completed by <br /> installing 2-inch diameter, flush-threaded, Schedule 40 PVC casing with 0 020-inch <br /> factory-slotted screen A number 3 sand pack, or equivalent, will be placed in the annular <br /> space across the entire screened interval, and will extend approximately 2 feet above the <br /> IT CORPORATION <br /> SAC 111SACRFPIICOMMON1saeDP120021PRJ\PJ8188018800391A 2ab doe <br /> (o 1020000) <br /> i <br />
