9 <br /> E r • � _ - <br /> Mr Don Rodgers Project 92097-070 21 <br /> July 11, 1997 <br /> Page 4 <br /> and (2) field monitoring of organic vapors from the extraction wells and influent <br /> and effluent of the abatement device using a field flame ionization detector <br /> • An EMCON techruclan will collect vapor samples on the first day of system <br /> operation for laboratory analysis from the vapor extraction wells and the influent <br /> and effluent of the abatement device on the first day of operation to evaluate <br /> destruction efficiency <br /> • EMCON will subrrut the vapor samples collected on the first day to a state- <br /> certified analytical laboratory and analyze for total petroleum hydrocarbons as <br /> gasoline (TPHG), using U S Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) <br /> Method 8010, and for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) <br /> and methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), using USEPA Method 8020 The vapor <br /> samples will be submitted on a 24-hour turnaround basis <br /> ® EMCON will prepare and submit a source test report to the SJVUAPCD and <br /> apply for a PTO <br /> Task 5 - Operation and Maintenance of the Remediation System <br /> EMCON will perform O&M of the SVE system for b months Tasks will include the <br /> following <br /> o An EMCON technician will make weekly site visits during the first month of <br /> operation to check for stable operation of the SVE system and collect operational <br /> data After the first month, site visits will be performed on a biweekly (twice a <br /> month) basis for maintenance and data collection purposes Data collection will <br /> include measurement of flow rate and applied vacuum at each vapor extraction <br /> well and influent to the abatement device, measurement of Induced vacuum at <br /> selected observation wells, and field monitoring of organic vapor and percent <br /> oxygen In extraction wells and the abatement device <br /> o An EMCON technician will collect air samples weekly for the first month and <br /> quarterly thereafter from the influent and effluent to the abatement device for <br /> laboratory analysis Vapor samples will be collected from individual wells twice <br /> during the 5-month extraction period Vapor samples will be analyzed for TPHG, <br /> BTEX, and MTBE <br /> SA"\PR0\P97\P9707021 AS 97Nprz i <br />
