SNrFN
ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGIES CORPOflAT10N
February 19, 1997
97715
Ms, Margaret Laggorio
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
P.O. Box 388
Stockton, California 95201
Subject: Workplan for Phase II Environmental Site Investigation at Proposed Taft
Detention Basin, 3707 S. El Dorado Street, Stockton, California
Dear Ms. Laggorio:
Smith Technology Corporation, on behalf of the City of Stockton Department of Public Works
(DPW), has prepared this document to serve as a workplan for a site investigation at the above
referenced site (Figure 1). The DPW requested this investigation as part of a property transfer. The
DPW has a Right of Entry from the property owner, William Scott of Scott Properties, (see
attachment) to conduct the investigation. The purpose of the site investigation is to evaluate
potential environmental concerns at the proposed location of the Taft storm basin. According to
the DPW, the site has been vacant in the past. Thus, the most likely source of any potential
adverse soil impaction at the site is from on-site surface spills.
PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK
Smith Technology proposes the following scope of work to evaluate potential residual soil
contamination at the subject site.
Advance Four Soil Borings, Soil Sample Collection and Analysis
This task includes mobilization to the site, advancing four soil borings, collecting soil samples, and
backfilling the borings to the surface with a neat cement grout.
Four borings will be advanced to depths of approximately 20 feet below ground surface (bgs)
using truck mounted Geoprobe® narrow diameter, direct push technology. Drilling will be
conducted by a State licensed (C57) drilling company. A field geologist will be present to log all
soil samples. Descriptions of soil types encountered and sample collection intervals will be
recorded on boring logs. Soil samples will be collected at three feet bgs and at five-foot intervals.
w:V77154eports\ssiwkp.doc t
1260 Graphics Drive Modesto,CA 95351-1502 (209)579-2221 Fax(209)579-2225
Engineering • Consulting • Remediation • Construcdon
