The workplan calls for the drilling and sampling of two soil borings to groundwater.
BACKGROUND
The Site is occupied by restaurant buildings with an adjoining parking area. South
American Street bounds the property to the west, East Charter Way bounds the property to the
south, a residence is to the north, and an inactive service station bounds the property to the east
(Figure 2). The adjacent service station is suspected to be contaminated. The extent of
contamination has not been defined. Our client proposes to purchase the property adjoining the
service station, and lender funding requires knowledge of the degree to which the subject
property has been affected by potential contaminants from the service station.
SCOPE OF WORK
We propose a subsurface environmental investigation to include drilling a maximum of
two borings, soil and groundwater sample analyses, and reporting of the findings.
Soil borings will be drilled to a point 40 ft below the ground surface in locations at the
east edge of the property were the service station adjoins the subject property. The borings will
be drilled using direct-push methods; proposed locations are shown on the attached Generalized
Site Plan (Figure 2). Soil samples will be collected at maximum 5-ft intervals and at lithologic
contacts in all borings using a split-spoon sampler fitted with clean brass sleeves.
