SJCPHD
August 11, 1999
Page 2
designated for possible laboratory analysis will be sealed and placed in iced storage. A
photoionizing organic vapor meter(OVM) will be used during sampling to detect and evaluate
potential hydrocarbon concentrations in the soil samples.
One to two soil samples from each of the borings will be analyzed for total petroleum
hydrocarbon as gasoline (TPHg)using EPA Method 8015, for BTEX using EPA Method 8020,
and for MTBE and other oxygenates by EPA Method 8260. These methods are recommended
by the California Environmental Protection Agency, and laboratory testing will be performed by
a California State-certified environmental laboratory.
Purged groundwater and drill cuttings will be stored onsite in 55-gal drums. Disposal
options for this material depend on the results of the laboratory analyses. Responsibility for
disposal belongs to the site owner; however, upon request by the owner, Lush Geosciences, Inc.
can take appropriate measures to responsibly dispose of the water.
REPORT PREPARATION
Site data will be summarized in a report to be submitted to SJCEHD,which will include
boring logs and analytical results. The proposed investigation will follow protocols approved by
the SJCEHD and the CRWQCB.
SCHEDULE
Work will begin immediately after receipt of authorization to proceed from the SJCEHD;
soil borings will proceed as soon as possible after well installation permits are acquired and
approved. Report preparation is expected to be complete approximately 5 days or less from
initiation of the project. SJCEHD and other agencies will be kept apprised of the works progress
through verbal and written communication.
Please call us if you have any questions regarding this Workplan or any other aspect of
this project. We plan to begin work immediately after receipt of authorization to proceed.
Sincerely,
LUSH GEOSCIENCES,INC. ,
Andrew P.
