tt ll
C A M B R I A
• Groundwater samples from borings CPT-2 and CPT-3, located near the eastern property
boundary, contained petroleum hydrocarbons, suggesting that off-site lateral investigation at
the adjacent property to the east is warranted.
• The deepest groundwater sample from boring CPT-4 contained TPHg and benzene at
concentrations of 1,320 and 13.8 ppb, respectively. Further assessment of the vertical extent
of petroleum hydrocarbons near the existing UST area is warranted.
• Cambria proposes drilling one deeper CPT boring (CPT-5) adjacent to CPT-4 to assess the
vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbons in groundwater and six additional CPT borings
(CPT-6 through CPT-11) to assess the lateral extent of petroleum constituents in
groundwater. The proposed boring locations are shown on Figure 2.
Work Tasks
Permits: Cambria will obtain a drilling permit from SJCPHS/EHD. Cambria will pursue an
access agreement, on behalf of Equilon Enterprises LLC (Equilon), with the owner(s) of the
adjacent property to the east of the subject site.
'Site Safety Plan: Cambria will prepare a Site Safety Plan for field work.
Utility Clearance: Cambria will mark proposed drilling locations and will clear the locations
through Underground Service Alert prior to drilling.
Site Investigation: Seven exploratory CPT soil borings (CPT-5 through CPT-11)are proposed at
the locations shown on Figure 2. The purpose of boring CPT-5 is to further assess the vertical
extent of impacted soil and groundwater adjacent to the UST complex, and the purpose of
borings CPT-6 through CPT-11 is to assess lateral extent of impacted groundwater identified in
the previous investigation. Proposed boring CPT-5 will be located adjacent.to the USTs and will
be advanced to 100 fbg, if possible. Proposed borings CPT-6-through CPT-9 are located near the
subject site's southern, western, and northern property boundaries, and proposed borings CPT-10
and CPT-11 are located east of the site, on a property occupied by a Best Western Motel. These
borings will be:advanced to 85 fbg.
A Cambria geologist will supervise the drilling, and encountered soils will be logged
continuously in all the borings using electronic CPT equipment. Soil samples will be collected
from boring CPT-5 at five-foot intervals beginning at 85 fbg for possible chemical analyses and
0778 3
