i
CAMBRIA
screened in the field for organic vapors using a photo-ionization detector(PID). No soil samples
will be collected from soil borings CPT-6 through CPT-11, as any petroleum-impacted soil
would most likely be due to impacted groundwater in these areas. At least one groundwater
sample will be collected from boring CPT-5 below 80 fbg using CPT water sampling equipment.
A minimum of four groundwater samples will be collected from each of borings CPT-6 through
CPT-11. These samples will be collected at depths of approximately 50, 65, 75, and 80 fbg,
correlating to the groundwater samples collected during the March 2000 investigation. The exact
number and depth of water samples will be determined in the field, based on the electronic CPT
logs. Exploratory boring logs will be prepared for each of the borings.
Soil samples designated for chemical analyses will be retained in stainless steel or brass sample
tubes. The tubes will be covered on both ends with Teflon sheets and plastic end caps.
Groundwater samples will be collected in vials preserved with hydrochloric acid with no
headspace. Soil and groundwater samples will be labeled, entered onto a chain-of-custody
record, and placed into a cooler with ice for transport to a State of California certified laboratory
for analyses.
Chemical Analyses: Soil and groundwater samples will be analyzed for TPHg by EPA Method
8015 (Modified) or equivalent, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes by EPA Method
8020 or equivalent, and fuel oxygenates (MTBE, DIPE, TAME, ETBE, and TBA) by EPA j
Method 8260.
Report Preparation: Following the receipt of analytical results from the laboratory and the CPT
boring logs from the driller, Cambria will prepare a written report, which will include field
procedures,laboratory results,and conclusions.
The scope of work described in this work plan will be performed under the supervision of a
registered geologist.
Schedule
Upon receiving work plan approval from SJCPHS/EHD, Cambria will submit an access
agreement to the adjacent property owner on behalf of Equilon. Cambria will submit a drilling
permit application to SJCPHS/EHD and schedule field work within 60 days after Equilon
receives a fully executed access agreement for the Best Western Motel property. Cambria will
submit a report of findings within 60 days of completing the field work.
0778 4
