Background information regarding this project in contained
in Delta's Final Renrediarion Plan, dated January 29, 1991. Based on ground water analytical data
collected to date, the downgradient extent of petroleum hydrocarbon constituents in ground water is
undefined.
The purpose for installing the additional ground water monitoring well (MW-10) is to assist in
delineation of the downgradient extent of petroleum hydrocarbon constiutents in ground water. Depth
to water•in Lhe vicinity of the site is approximately 35 feet below grade. The proposed ground water
monitoring well will be installed to approximately 45 feet below grade. The soil boring will be advanced
using a hollow-stem auger drilling rig. Soil samples will be collected at 5-foot vertical intervals, and
field-analyzed for the presence of organic vapors with a phetoionization detector cr similar device.
Selected soil samples will be submitted to a state-certified laboratory for laboratory analysis of benvene,
toluene,ethylbenzene,and xylcn;s(BTEX)and total petroleum hydrocarbons(T'PH)as gasoline using
U.S.Environmental Protection Agency and California Department of Health Services approved methods.
Soil cuttings generated from the soil borings will be temporarily stored on site under visqueen, A soil
sample will be collected from the;stockpi&c and analyzed for BTEX and TPH as gasoline. The soil will
then be properly transported and disposed.
Practical Solutions to Environmogtal Concerns
