Charter Way
Stockton , Ca .
Site # 1060
On March 24 , 1993 , we measured and pumped well BM-5 . This well
had been reported to have floating free product . The sampler
had bailed the well and had attempted to remove all of the free
product . This work was to remove as much of the free product
as possible around the well .
Activity :
The depth to water was measured at 53 . 20 feet and we were able
to identify a sheen on the surface of the well water . No
measurable floating product was present . The odor of gasoline
was present .
A bladder pump was lowered into the well water 4 inches . The
pump inlet is located in the bottom 2 inched of the pump ,
therefore , the pump was removing the surface water where the
floating product is located .
The water was pumped into an open 5 gallon bucket and the
surface of the water was observed . In the first bucket we
noted a slight sheen on the water , however , all of the next 10
buckets did not contain any sheen or product . The water had an
odor of stale water but not of gasoline . The pumped water was
placed in a 55 gallon drum and left on site . It will be
removed by a hazardous waste hauler in the future .
Since we were unable to remove any significant product , we
decided to discontinue trying to remove product from this well .
Yours tru Cj 9V
eyv
) s NO 01979
I
TA
John Cussen f
Reg .
