In December 2000, we drilled one additional monitoring well (BM-13) which was placed near(BM- <br /> 8) so that the slotted casing would be located at a shallower level than (BM-8) <br /> GEOLOGY <br /> The first 19 to 22 feet consist of fine grained soil of silty clay and clayey spit This sod unit appears <br /> consistent over the area Below the fine grained unit is a layer of silty sand, which is about 3 to 5 <br /> feet thick and is narrowing down on both ends of the investigation site Below this silty sand is a <br /> silty clay unit about 23 feet thick to the west and 25 feet thick to the east Below the silty clay is a <br /> silty sand about 20 feet thick and disappears when we reach (BM-12) Below this silty sand is a <br /> clay unit of unknown depth See the cross-sections attached <br /> Wells (BM-1, BM-2 and BM-3)were drilled to a depth of 50 feet Well (BM-1) had contamination <br /> from top to bottom and wells (BM-2 and BM-3) did not have any soil contamination In April 1992 <br /> we drilled three additional wells to replace the first three, because the water table had fallen below <br /> the bottom of the wells The three wells were drilled to a depth of 65 feet These wells are labeled <br /> (BM-4, BM-5 and BM-6) Wells (BM-4 and BM-5) were contaminated from 15 feet below the <br /> surface (bgs) to 50 feet and probably deeper Well (BM-6) did not contain any gasoline <br /> contamination excepf at 15 feet where xylene was present at 1227 ug/Kg <br /> In July and August 1993 we placed two monitoring wells and one boring Wells (BM-7 and BM-8) <br /> • had minor contamination of gasoline from 35 to 50 feet bgs Boring B-1 had contaminated sod <br /> from top to bottom <br /> In September 1994 we placed three additional wells (BM-9, BM-10 and BM-11) Well (BM-9) was <br /> placed just west of the station west of the property Well (BM-10) is near the comer of Clay Street <br /> and Grand Street and (BM-11) is one block east of this property on Aurora Street Well (BM-9) <br /> had contamination at 50 feet and BM-10 and BM-11 did not contain any soil contamination <br /> On June 19 and 26, 1995, two hydropunch borings were dnlled on the Sun Gardens property HP- <br /> 1 was drilled on the north side of the Sun Gardens restaurant about 102 feet north of the curb of <br /> Charter Way Boring HP-2 was drilled 10 feet east and 60 feet north of the curb of Charter Way <br /> HP-1 had the water sample taken from 45 to 50 feet bgs It had 85 ug/L of Toluene, 6 ug/L of <br /> Ethyl-benzene and 0 7 ug/L of TPH <br /> HP-2 had 6930 ug/L of Benzene, 63 ug/L of Toluene, 1120 ug/L of Ethyl-benzene, 183 ug/L of <br /> Xylene and 12,000 ug/L of TPH We attempted to obtain a water sample from HP-2 but were not <br /> able to do so because the boring did not contain any water On June 26, we attempted to obtain a <br /> water sample by deepening HP-2 and we encountered water at 55 feet deep bgs and obtained a <br /> water sample These two borings will supply an understanding of what is occurring at this site <br /> In July 1999 we placed one additional well (BM-12) about 200 feet east of this station No <br /> gasoline contamination was found in the sod <br /> In November 2000 we drilled one vapor extraction well VW-7 to the east of the office at this station <br /> and small amounts of gasoline contamination was found from 45 feet bgs to 80 feet bgs Two <br /> borings B-2 and B-3 were also dnlled to locate the bottom of the sod contamination in B-2 and test <br /> for a possible leak of the tanks B-2 found no gasoline contamination below 85 feet bgs <br />
