I
06 April 2009
AGE-NC Project No. 02-0962
2.1. PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK PREPARATIONS
A site specific health and safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and
Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Act vities(National Institute for Occupational
Safety and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard an U.S. Environmental Protection Agency,
1985).Prior to mobilization, each proposed soil boring Ic cation will be clearly marked and an utility
clearance obtained through Underground Service Alert.
2.2. PROBING AND COLLECTION OF SOIL VAPOR SAMPLES
Based on the data collected during the fuel-dispensing system upgrade,AGE proposes advancement
of two soil-gas vapor probe borings to evaluate vapor in cion at the site(Figure 2).Initially,each
soil boring will be advanced to maximum depths of 5 feet bsg. A single soil vapor sample will be
collected from each boring at a depth of approximately S feet bsg.Field procedures for advancement
of borings and collection of soil vapor samples are presented in Section 3.1.
Soil vapor samples will be analyzed by a State of Califoraia Department of Public Health(CDPH)-
certified laboratory for the following constituents:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA `
Method TO-3; and ly '
• Volatile aromatic compounds(benzene,toluene,ethylbenzene,xylenes:BTEX),oxygenated
compound(methyl tertiary butyl ether: MTBE), and isopropyl alcohol in accordance with
EPA Method TO-15. t?
Laboratory reports for soil vapor analyses, testing methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality
control(QA/QC)reports,and sample chain of custody d cumentation will be presented in a report
with findings and recommendations.
I
2.3. REPORT PREPARATION
Following the completion of the proposed scope of wor a report will be prepared presenting the
findings. The report will include a description of work r erformed and the results of the soil-vapor
sampling and analysis. Conclusions and recommendations will also be included in the reports, if
applicable. The report will be in a format acceptable to tht SICEHD and the CVRWQCB guidelines,
and will be reviewed and signed by a California Profess onal Geologist.
Advanced GeoEnvtronmentat,Ina
