SS-1
Tank Suitability for Service Statement
This facility is regulated by all federal, state, and local regulations.
The Code of Federal Regulations, 40 CFR 112, requires that the
facility maintain a Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures
(SPCC) plan that adheres to the industry standard requirements for
regular inspections. The Steel Tank Institute (STI) SP001 Standard
requires that the aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) be formally
inspected based on the category of the AST.
Next Inspection Schedules
STI SP001 recommends the interval to the next inspection be determined based on known tank category
and volume. Per inspection interval definitions outlined in STI SP001, PEI recommends the following
inspection schedule:
• An out-of-service, internal inspection inspection is not required.
• A leak test in accordance with STI SP001 is not required.
• An external, in-service inspection should be scheduled no more than 20 years from the current
inspection date or sooner if a change in tank condition occurs. However, more stringent governing
regulatory intervals of inspection may supersede this interval.
Required Repairs for Continued Service:
1. Perform an external roof STI SP001 Inspection within 20 years (2039).
Non-Mandatory Considerations or Recommended Repairs.
2. Consider applying touch-up coatings to the isolated areas of coating failure.
3. Consider periodically cleaning the goose-neck vent to ensure proper operation.
4. Consider removing the abandoned conduit coming from the cone roof.
5. Consider installing an open vent equal in size to the largest in-use nozzle.
6. Consider relocating the flammable materials stored near the tank.
7. Consider relocating the fire extinguisher(at least 15-ft from the tank).
8. Consider caulking the cracks in the containmentwall. Pressurewash the containment and fill any cracks
in the containment with caulking.
9. Clean around the 1course and bottom extension to provide for better visual inspection during periodic
inspections.
10. Consider installing a new NFPA placard as per NFPA 704.
6eINRf1B}a1N19d3]ggp C•ePnMQ V W1P
OID1P£Llrc
Page 4
