r <br /> 03 August 1999 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0121 <br /> Page 3 of 7 <br /> The Modesto,Riverbank, Turlock Lake Formations and overlying recent alluvium are the principal <br /> source of domestic ground water in the 13,500 square-mile San Joaquin Valley Ground Water Basan' <br /> (Basin 5-22) This basin is drained primanly by the San Joaquin Raver The nearest surface water <br /> feature in the vicinity of the property is the Morman Slough, located approximately 5000 feet north <br /> of the site <br /> 2 4 GROUND WATER DEPTH AND FLOW DIRECTION <br /> In March 1999, ground water depth was measured at approximately 15 feet below surface grade <br /> (bsg), ground water gradient was calculated at 0 003 (approximately 16 feet per male) towards the <br /> northeast (Quarterly Report- March 1999, dated 23 June 1999,prepared by AGE) <br /> Review of historical depth to ground water maps published by the San Joaquin County Flood <br /> Control & Water Conservation District (FCD&WCD) dating back to 1971 suggests that ground <br /> water depth near the site has fluctuated between approximately 15 and 40 feet bsg <br /> • 3.0. SCOPE OF WORK <br /> Additional pilot tests are necessary based upon the increasing interval of impacted soil in the <br /> saturated zone and the reduction of impacted soil in the vadose zone AGE proposes to perform the <br /> following tasks as part of additional remedial investigation and feasibility studies <br /> • Permitting, planning and pre-field work activities, <br /> • Forty-eight hour ground water pump test, <br /> • Microbial enumeration and physicochemical analysis, a <br /> • Six-month ORC pilot study, <br /> • Preparation of feasibility/remedial investigation report <br /> 3 1 PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES <br /> Applicable site assessment permits will be submitted to the PHS-EHD As required by PHS-EHD <br /> permitting, a health and safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and <br /> Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational <br /> • Safety and Health Administration, U S Coast Guard and U S Environmental Protection Agency, <br /> 1985) Prior to drilling activities, each proposed drilling location will be clearly marked and a utility <br /> Advanced GcoEn%ironmental,Inc <br /> r <br /> r <br /> r <br />
