AGE-NC-95-0121 <br /> Page 2 of 3 <br /> In May 1992, three additional monitoring wells were installed at the site (MW-4 through MW-6) by <br /> Artesian Environmental Consultants(AEC) Petroleum hydrocarbons(TPH-g) were detected in MW- <br /> A and NM-6 at concentrations as great as 15,000 parts per billion (ppb) No hydrocarbons were <br /> detected in the sample from MW-5 , <br /> In December 1994, three monitoring wells (MW-7 to MW-9) and one bonng were installed at the r <br /> site by Geological Audit Services, Inc (GeoAudit) Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in 4'of - <br /> 11 soil samples analyzed from the wells and boring No petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in <br /> either soil or ground water samples from MW-8 or MW-9 <br /> 2 4 GROUND WATERtDEPTH AND FLOW DIRECTION <br /> Ground water depth at the site has fluctuated from approximately 25 feet to approximately 33 feet <br /> below surface grade between 1991 and 1995 Ground water flow direction at the site has fluctuated <br /> from northwest to southeast Current ground water flow direction is north-northeast <br /> 3.0, SCOPE OF WORK <br /> AGE proposes to dnll and install one vapor extraction/ground water extraction well at the site The <br /> proposed well will be completed so that both vapor extraction and ground water pumping can be <br /> performed using the same well In addition,,two vapor extraction observation wells will be installed <br /> at the site The observation wells will also be designed for use as extraction wells if soil vapor <br /> extraction is utilized for remediation of contaminated soil at the site <br /> r , <br /> 4.0. PROCEDURES <br /> To complete the proposed scope of work, the following procedures will be performed <br /> 1 Notify the PHS-EHD 48 hours prior to commencement of any work - <br /> 2 Drill three soil bonngs'at the site All borings will be drilled using a hollow-stem <br /> auger drill rig ; <br /> ' 4 1 <br /> 3 One boring will be drilled to a�depth of approximately 42 feet This boring will be , <br /> completed with 25 feet of4-inch diameter slotted PVC screen for use as a soil vapor <br /> y extraction and, if necessary, a ground water ewactibn well The remaining two soil <br /> borings will be drilled to depths of approximately 32 feet and will be completed with <br />• 15 feet of 2-'inch diameter PVC slotted screen Proposed bonng locations are <br />
