AGE-NC-95-0121
In May 1992, three additional monitoring wells were installed at the site (MW-4 through MW-6) by
Artesian Environmental Consultants(AEC) Petroleum hydrocarbons(TPH-g) were detected in MW-
A and NM-6 at concentrations as great as 15,000 parts per billion (ppb) No hydrocarbons were
detected in the sample from MW-5 ,
In December 1994, three monitoring wells (MW-7 to MW-9) and one bonng were installed at the r
site by Geological Audit Services, Inc (GeoAudit) Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in 4'of -
11 soil samples analyzed from the wells and boring No petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in
either soil or ground water samples from MW-8 or MW-9
2 4 GROUND WATERtDEPTH AND FLOW DIRECTION
Ground water depth at the site has fluctuated from approximately 25 feet to approximately 33 feet
below surface grade between 1991 and 1995 Ground water flow direction at the site has fluctuated
from northwest to southeast Current ground water flow direction is north-northeast
3.0, SCOPE OF WORK
AGE proposes to dnll and install one vapor extraction/ground water extraction well at the site The
proposed well will be completed so that both vapor extraction and ground water pumping can be
performed using the same well In addition,,two vapor extraction observation wells will be installed
at the site The observation wells will also be designed for use as extraction wells if soil vapor
extraction is utilized for remediation of contaminated soil at the site
r ,
4.0. PROCEDURES
To complete the proposed scope of work, the following procedures will be performed
1 Notify the PHS-EHD 48 hours prior to commencement of any work -
2 Drill three soil bonngs'at the site All borings will be drilled using a hollow-stem
auger drill rig ;
' 4 1
3 One boring will be drilled to adepth of approximately 42 feet This boring will be ,
completed with 25 feet of4-inch diameter slotted PVC screen for use as a soil vapor
y extraction and, if necessary, a ground water ewactibn well The remaining two soil
borings will be drilled to depths of approximately 32 feet and will be completed with
• 15 feet of 2-'inch diameter PVC slotted screen Proposed bonng locations are
