MW-3 - Xylene measured 0.4 mg/L. All other compounds were below detection levels.
Refer to TABLE A for details.
MW-4 - Benzene, ethylbenzene, TPHg, and oxygenates were below detection levels.
Toluene measured 0.4 mg/L, xylene was 1.0 mg/L, and TEPH as diesel increased from ND
to 166 ug/L. The results are summarized on TABLE B.
MW-5 - This well, placed by Nomellini Construction Co., has not been sampled since
November, 1996. It is being monitored by their consultant. The results of the sampling
done by us are summarized on TABLE B.
MW-6 - This well was not sampled in 1997 because it's location had been covered up and
the field technician could not locate the casing. It has been sampled twice in 1998, all com-
pounds have been ND both times. The results are summarized on TABLE B.
MW-7 - Prior to this event, BTEX, TPHg, oxygenates & TEPH had been below detection
limits since the start of the project. However, low levels of BTEX were measured from the
latest sampling. Benzene was 0.5 ug/L, toluene 1.0 ug/L, ethylbenzene 0.4 ug/L, and
xylene 1.0 ug/L. The reason for these "hits" is not known, but the possibility exists that
• there is another offsite source of contamination to the south of the property. This is
supported by an examination of PLATES I through V. Refer to TABLE B for a summary
of the results of all the sampling data.
MW-8 - Benzene decreased from 4.0 ug/L to 2.0 ug/L; toluene decreased from 2.0 ug/L
to 1.0 ug/L, ethylbenzene increased from ND to 0.5 ug/L, and xylene remained at 1.0
ug/L. TPH as gasoline increased from 214 ug/L to 296 ug/L. TEPH and oxygenates were
ND.. Results are summarized on TABLE C.
MW-9 - This well is located on the JM Equipment property immediately to the west. It
was placed in an up-gradient position to evaluate the presence of gasoline compounds found
at the west edge of the Independent Trucking site. Refer to the WJH report dated
October, 1996 for details of that work. As summarized on TABLE C, extremely high
levels of BTEX & TPHg were measured in both soil and groundwater We believe the
source of the gasoline compounds detected at the southwest edge of the Miles property
originates from that site. We have removed MW-9 from our monitoring schedule since that
task is now the responsibility of the owners of that property.
CONCLUSIONS:
1. A large groundwater plume extends from the southeast side of the property to at least
as far as the maintainance building. The source of that plume is on the Nomellini
• Construction site immediately to the east at 1045 W. Charter Way.
2
