2. A second plume (groundwater & possibly soil,) has migrated onto the southwest side of
the Miles property from the JM Equipment site at 1245 W. Charter Way. It may be
commingled with the Nomellini plume.
3. A third offsite source may exist to the south of MW-7. Prior to the latest sampling, the
well had never measured BTEX, TPHg, oxygenates, or TEPH. Minor amounts of
BTEX were detected from the August sampling - refer to TABLE B for details.
However, these compounds may be associated with the Nomellini site.
4. Excluding MW-5 (Nomellini,) & MW-9 (JM equipment,) which are within impacted
areas, the levels of BTEX and TPHg in the remaining wells are quite low
5. The source of the diesel range organics present in the groundwater beneath MW-4 were
the threee diesel UST's, which have been removed. Refer to prior reports for details of
that work.
The extensive work done to date has confirmed the existence of two, and possilbly three,
offsite sources of gasoline contamination which extend beneath 1145 W. Charter Way. Our
client has removed the diesel UST's on the site, excavated and disposed of several hundred
yards of contaminated soil, installed eight monitoring wells, performed an extensive area
search for other sources of contamination, and complied with all rules and regulations. The
minor gasoline contamination remaining beneath the property originates from offsite
sources, and cleanup is the responsibility of others. We do not believe that further
assessment work by our client is warranted, and we are proceeding with preparing the
nec ary cumentation for site closure.
m. . unter &Associates
September 15, 1998
W.
