2. Motor Oil
Properties: Dense viscous liquid easily bonding to solids. Non-Volatile
by nature, but does have flashpoint of-50' farenheith. May
potentially have many types of inorganic and halonenated
componds intermingled with oil.
B. Physical Hazards
No significant physical hazards are anticipated.
1. Minimal potential exposure to nuisance dust from soil boring, stockpiling
and eventual backfilling operations.
2. Potential particle in eye hazard if wind conditions develop.
3. Potential exposure to traffic hazards associated with vehicle/equipment
operations.
4. Potential intermittent exposure to noise at levels above 90 dBA.
5. Potential physical injury hazard from operation of heavy equipment, i.e.
rotary drilling rig
6. No heat stress hazard is anticipated because of predicted ambient weather
conditions (with day time temperatures of 80-90T).
7. No anticipated high voltage electrical hazards (no overhead or underground
utilities in the drilling area).
V. JOB HAZARD SUMMARY
The drilling of the three soil borings and two hand borings are anticipated to be
completed in one day. This event will be completed to furthur determine the areal extent
of the soils contamination plume These activities present minimal potential exposure to
hazards for field employees. The work area is isolated from other facility operations,
reducing the likelihood of outside interference/interaction with equipment operation or
employee actions.
3
