In addition to the four (4) wells recently placed on the
property, there are at least 20 groundwater monitoring wells in
the area The owners of the site immediately to the east at 1045
W Charter Way, (Nomellini Construction Co , ) have recently
installed two (2) additional groundwater monitoring wells in
order to further define an extensive hydrocarbon plume beneath
that site . One of those wells has been placed on the east side
of the Miles & Nolet property; it ' s location is shown on PLATE
IV We have received some data concerning levels of contamina-
tion, which revealed minor amounts of petroleum constituents . We
have made arrangements with the owner of the Nomellini site to
include that well in our quarterly sampling events .
WORKPLAN FOR FURTHER SOIL & GROUNDWATER INVESTIGATION
This proposed workplan consists of four phases, which will be
described in detail later
1 A detailed review of aerial photographs of the area taken in
1963 , 1975, 1984, & 1990 .
2 A surface geophysical reconnaissance of the areas in and
around the vicinity of the maantainance building and offices in
the southwest corner of the property
3 "Push-type" soil probes to delineate the lateral limits of
known contamination, and explore other possible anomalies that
may be identified by the geophysical survey
4 Monitoring wells will be placed as necessary to fully define
the extent of contamination revealed by prior work and this
investigative phase.
AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHIC REVIEW.
We have obtained large scale prints of aerial photographs of the
area taken in 1963 , 1975, 1984, & 1990 ; there are apparently no
usable photos of the area prior to 1963 , and that one is of poor
quality. They are being thoroughly examined in an attempt to
determine if other UST' s or similar vessels existed in the area
which have not yet been identified. A preliminary review reveals
that the large maintainance building and office were present in
1963 , but there is no obvious evidence of any UST' s on the
property or ad3acent sites . If further study indicates the
presence of possible sources of contamination, we will conduct a
more thorough investigation of those areas .
3
