GEOPHYSICAL RECONNASSAINCE-
The basic approach will follow this general procedure
1 . Identify cultural features that will affect the data,
(fences, standpipes, metal buildings, vehicles, & other metallic
or electrical sources, ) by traversing the area with a grid or
series of lanes using magnetics & electro-magnetics to evaluate
the gradients & determine how they are affected by subsurface
features such as pipes, tanks, etc The general area of
investigation as shown on the attached PLATE V.
2 When & if targets are located, induction methods will be used
to attempt to determine the type of feature identified Those
areas will then be marked for further investigative work. If the
sensitivity of the equipment permits, we will also investigate
the area beneath the shop building.
2 If the result of the above operation is successful an
locating previously unknown UST' s or product lines on the
property, the necessary workplans & permits will be obtained from
the San Joaquin County RHD, and they will be removed and required
soil samples taken and analyzed If offsite sources are identi-
fied or indicated, we will provide that information to the appro-
priate government agencies for action
Our client is in the process of obtaining a trespass agreement
with the owner of the property to the west so that we may include
that area an our survey, and allow us to place soil/water probes
on that site if deemed necessary
SOIL & GROUNDWATER INVESTIGATION - (SOIL PROBES )
An analysis of the data obtained to date indicates that there are
two (2) areas of soil & groundwater contamination beneath the
site one in the area which contained the diesel tanks, and the
other associated with the waste oil tank, the removed septic
system, and the area to the west of the maantaanance building.
The estimated "zero" lanes an the groundwater for TPH-D & BTEX &
TPH-G are shown on the attached PLATE VI . In order to fully
define those limits, we propose to place up to ten (10) geoprobes
in the approximate locations indicated on that plate . If the
results of the geophysical survey reveals other possible sources,
we will include those areas in our work; a brief addendum showing
any additional locations will be submitted of needed. Field
procedures will include the following
4
