After reaching a depth of 381, 211 blank & slotted, flush, screw-
30int casing was run to 381 The bottom 201 consisted of 02011
horizontal machine cut slots with a screw thread cap, the rest
was blank The annulus was packed with 7 sacks of #3 washed sand
by the same method described above The top of the sand was
located at 161, 2 feet above the perforations, it was capped with
2 feet of bentonite pellets After removing the augers, the top
of the casing was securely covered pending grouting operations
A schematic diagram of completion details is included as PLATE
XII -A
After decontaminating auger flights & core barrels, the rig was
moved to monitoring well ##2 as shown on PLATE X Cores were taken
at 5 foot intervals from 51 to 261611 using WJH field procedures
described earlier There were no odors or evidence of contami-
nation, and no response from samples screened with the PID meter
After the last core was taken, the augers were advanced to 381 &
the hole conditioned for running casing Refer to PLATE XIII for
details of blow counts, core recovery, lithology, and other
information recorded during the work
211 blank & slotted, flush screw-3oint casing was landed at 381,
the bottom 201 consisted of 02011 horizontal machine cut slots,
the rest was blank The annulus was filled with 7 sacks of #3
washed sand as described above After verifying the top of the
sand at 161, (2 feet above the top of the perforations,) one
bucket of bentonite pellets was placed on top of the sand and
wetted with clean water. The top of the seal was located at 141,
the top of the casing sealed with a plastic cap, and covered with
a metal container to prevent damage Details of the well
completion are given on PLATE XIII -A
While the augers were being decontaminated, the rig was mobilized
over the location marked for monitoring well #1 as shown on PLATE
X Drilling began at 1540 hours, and the first core, from 51-61611
was taken at 1545 hours. Cores were taken from 101-111611,
15 1 -16 1 611 , 20 1 -211 61f, & 251-261611, they were screened, described,
and preserved following standard field procedures as described
earlier No odors, visible evidence of contamination were noted,
and bagged portions of the core material did not give any
response when tested with the PID meter Refer to PLATE XIV for
details of lithology, blow counts, & recovery
After taking the last core, a tape was run in
indicated fluid at 251 bgl The augers were
and the hole conditioned for running casing
7
the auger flights &
advanced to 381 bgl,
