The excavation was filled with clean material from a quarry site; information concerning amount, type, & source of material has not been furnished to us. Sent.&_ Oct. , 1994 - A 1,000 gallon waste oil tank was removed from a site just north of the shop & adjacent paint booth & wash rack by Jam Thorpe Oil, Inc; (refer to PLATE XII for it' s location. ) Soil samples were collected at 10 ' below grade from the east & west end of the excavation, & the spoil pile. The samples were analyzed for BTEX, TPH-G, purgable halocarbons, semi--volatile organics, TEPH, & CAM-TTLC, 10 metals The results of those analyzes revealed very minor amounts of Xylene in two samples, diesel , motor oil, very minor amounts of some semi- volaties, and no purgable halocarbons. The excavation was filled with clean material, & the spoil pile moved to a site adjacent to the removed diesel tanks. Laboratory results of those analyzes are included as EXHIBIT E. Thorpe Oil then removed a 10, 000 gallon, a 5, 000 gallon, & a 3 ,000 gallon UST which had contained diesel fuel They were located in a open area about 100' east of the shop building; refer to PLATE XIII for details of their locations & sample points. Laboratory results revealed very minor amounts of Ethylbenzene & Xylene in one sample from the west end of the 10, 000 gallon tank, 6, 000 mg/kg of TPH as diesel in that sample, 90 mg/kg from the sample at the east end of the 5, 000 gallon UST, 22 mg/kg of TPH--D in a sample at 4 ' beneath the line connecting the two sets of tanks, and EB, Xylene & TPH-D from the product line. Analysis of samples from the spoil piles revealed only TPH-G & motor oil. Copies of the laboratory sheets are included as EXHIBIT F The excavations are currently open; spoil is stored as shown on PLATE XIII , and they are protected by an 8' high chain lank fence The four tanks were removed under permits obtained from the San Joaquin County EHD, & work was witnessed by a representative of the County. Permits, tank tracking records & other documents are included as EXHIBIT G. The results of any additional work that may be required by the County will be included in later reports. WORKPLAN FOR SOIL & GROUND!qATEE INVESTIGATION: The following workplan is for placing three ( 3) soil borings as shown on the enclosed PLATE XIV programmed to approximately 35' below grade, or to the water table Soil samples will be taken & analyzed at 5 foot intervals from 5' bgl to the capillary fringe, and discrete water samples will be taken by driving a hydropunch or similar device into the groundwater. Soil boring #8 will be completed as a groundwater monitoring well as described below. 5
