• Injection wells IW-1 through IW-4 were thoroughly developed using mechanical surging,
pumping and flushing methods on September 8,2011.
• GTI is currently waiting the receipt and approval of the Waste Discharge permit before
implementing Phase I activities.
• A report of well installation is in process and will be completed by mid-October.
Additionally, GTI would like to propose the following changes to the groundwater monitoring
for the fiscal year 2011/2012. Our goal is to minimize costs for groundwater monitoring,
allowing us to redirect funds toward remediation of the plume and still obtain pertinent data for
making technical decisions on the operation and success of the remediation.
We propose the following:
1. Discontinue monitoring for the following wells: MW-1, -2, -3, -7, -10 & -109. These well
have been non-detect for several years and do not provide pertinent information on remedial
activities.
2. Four wells to be monitored semi-annually on the second and fourth quarters for TPH-G,
BTEX & MtBE, using method 8015m/8021b: MW-4, -6, -8 & -9. These wells are center to
the contaminant plume and will provide important information on the remedial activities on
the extended portions of the plume.
3. Four remedial observation wells to be monitored monthly forTPH-G,BTEX&MtBE, using
method 8015m/8021b: MW-5,OW-1, -2 &-3. These wells will provide rapid analysis of the
impact the various remedial activities are having on the contaminant plume.
4. These same observation wells to be monitored semi-annually on the second and fourth
quarters for metals: MW-5, OW-1, -2&-3
5. Based on the analytical results from the composited soil samples collected at the site between
June 27 and June 29, 2011, the metals analysis will be limited to As, Ba, CrVI, Fe, K and
Mg. Please refer to the attached data table of previous metals analysis of the soil.
6. Semi-Annual groundwater monitoring will include depth to water measurements in all
monitoring wells.
7. The above monitoring schedule was also submitted in the NOI and associated Monitoring
and Reporting Program that was sent to the Regional Board for review on September 8,
2011. In the event the RB requires additional monitoring, GTI will adjust the monitoring to
adhere to the NOI.
Please let me know if you have any questions or need additional information,
Respectfully Subm'tted,
Ra 0e,"1 11, ignW by Ra I.Habim.
, ON: = ynold n
KabllalAw"ff' .M-11 z: .
Raynold 1.
