(GTI), and received on Geotracker on
February 6, 2009.
The Plan was submitted to address residual soil mass and delineation concerns raised
by the EHD at the meeting held on September 17, 2008; the issues needed to be
addressed to facilitate the EHD review of your corrective action proposal. The plan
proposes installation of 19 Cone Penetrometer Testing (CPT) borings to 40 feet below
ground surface ('bgs) or deeper if field conditions indicate additional vertical investigation
is warranted.
The EHD has evaluated the most current ground water data (November 6, 2008) and the
soil data collected to date and believes that much of the information needed could be
gathered from much fewer than the 19 CPTs proposed; the remaining CPTs could be
contingency borings that could be instilled if justified by data from the initial CPTs
installed in the area that indicates the 'step-out' borings would further help to define the
extent of the contamination.
The CPTs that the EHD approves initially are as follows:
• CPT -1, CPT-5, and CPT-11; any significant soil contamination noted in these
borings should be followed up with contingency borings CPT-2, CPT-6, and CPT-
12, respectively.
• CPT-16, CPT-17, and CPT-19 could be combined into one CPT boring in the
CPT-16 location with a contingency boring further south/southeast if indicated.
• CPT-9 and CPT-14; contingency lateral borings CPT-8 and CPT-13 can be
placed if significant contamination is noted in CPT-9 & 14.
• CPT-7.
The area immediately north and northwest of CPT-7 should be investigated, but was not
included in this proposal. If it is not possible for the CPT rig to access this covered area,
then an additional CPT should be installed on the north side of the covered area.
