The concentration listed for the total
petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPHg) as 1,600,000 milligrams
per kilogram (mg/kg) most likely should have been 1,600,000 micrograms per
kilogram (ug/kg) as concentrations above 1,000,000 mg/kg would exceed the
concentration of pure product. The mass calculations should be re-estimated
with the most likely units and included in an SCM update to be submitted to the
EHD by January 18, 2008.
The recommendation section of the SCM discussed generating an interim
corrective action plan (ICAP) to address the gasoline contamination at the site.
The EHD feels that submittal of an ICAP to be premature at this time and would
like the recently submitted work plan to be enacted first.
The EHD reviewed Work Plan — Soil Boring Investigation which was submitted to
address the concerns rooted during the site walk on August 22, 2007.
The work plan proposed two push type soil borings (GP-4 and GP-5) in the area
north of the former UST pit. Soil samples and grab ground water samples are to
be collected and analyzed for TPHg and for benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene,
and xylene (BTEX). The plan included a schedule to advance these borings in
January 2008.
