In the study, GTI selected /n-situ Chemical Oxidation
(primarily Hydroge i peroxide injection) as the chosen remedial alternative for
cleaning up the abDve referenced site. EHD evaluated and approved the study
on March 20, 200 and required a work plan to be submitted.
This work plan cal s for injecting a peroxide solution into existing MW-9 and
monitoring ground vvater parameters in three, newly installed GeoProbe type
monitoring wells p aced 1, 2, and 3-feet down gradient of MW-9. Before and
after soil and groundwater samples for petroleum constituents of concern will be
collected and ana ed. No ozone injection is proposed during this test phase.
Testing will Contin a on a bi-weekly approach and a report of findings will be
submitted to EHD soon after the testing phase is completed. EHD advises that
conclusions for fu I-system design and continued use of peroxide injection, as
well as possible a Jdition of ozone, are to be supported by site-specific data.
The proposal is a Jequate and necessary [Health & Safety Code (H&S) Section
25299.37(c)(3)] a id is approved with the following condition.
San Joaquin County Well Standards call for a minimum of two inches (2")
of annual Apacing between the outside of the casing and the soil/boring
wall for grout. The 2.5 GeoProbe push equipment does not allow for the
minimum I ole diameter of approximately six inches (6") needed for 1"+
OD, PVC casings. Please modify the your boring design to provide at
least the n iinimum hole diameter for the upper 16' (proposed grout length)
as described in the work plan.
