Equipment Company, hic., 1245 W. For our c nvenience and to be sure we are on the right track, I have prepared the
following summary of oui phone meeting of June 3, 1998 in which we discussed the changes that
should be made to address the issues of well installation and oxygenated fuel compound testing.
The points of our conversa 'on were:
1. The primary goal is to efine the lateral and vertical extent of the soil and groundwater plume.
2. Three water table mot 'toring wells and one deeper aquifer monitoring well should be installed.
One of the water table wells and the deeper well should be installed near the former tank location.
The upgradient wells uld be closure to the source. Well#JM-2 is fine.
3. The water table wells 3hould be constructed to accommodate the high water table and should be
screened from 10 to 3 C feet. This year may set a new seasonal high for groundwater.
4. The deeper well shoul be screened with a 2.5 to 5 foot screen at a depth that is appropriate for
defining the vertical a ent.
5. A pilot borehole should be drilled prior to well installation and discrete soil and groundwater
samples should be col.ected. GTI recommend that the SimulProbe tool be used to collect these
samples. This boreho a should be used to determine the depth that the short-screened deep well
should be installed. The test results should be used to help in the contaminant mass estimate
calculations.
6. Only one vapor extrac 'on well should be installed in one of the borehole at this time and should
have a screen interval of 5-15 feet.
7. After these well have )een installed, the oxygenated fuel compounds should be tested for in two
monitoring events. I hese should include: MTBE, DIPE, TAME, ETBE, TBA, ethanol and
methanol.
Rely Sub ,tte ,
CJeoliaical2 nits Z
Raynold I.
