Equipment Company, Inc„ Geological Technics Inc. (GT68
seeking clarification on the following issues:
1. Installation of vapor raction wells '
2 Testing for the oxygi mate fuel compounds ?
a or Extraction Wells
In the letter of February 10, 1997 reviewing of the January 17, 1997 work plan submitted bf
Geological. Technics Inc. Ms. Linda Turkatte of PHS/EHD recommended that the soil borings
around the former USTs x converted to vapor extraction wells (VEWs). She recommended that
this work should be conducted at the same time as the borings were drilled if geology and
contamination levels wan anted. GTI concurred with this as it would save both time and money in
the event that engineeredremediation:was required.
In review of the cost approval, James DiGiorgio, did not approve the costs of installing the
VEWs, stating that the ni ed for the VEWs should first be established, GTI and J.M. Equipment
Company is asking for cl izification from PHS/El3D as to whether you are going to require that
the VEWs be installed at his time.
enated Fuel CggLwi rids
Another issue we would like clarified is whether the testing for the oxygenate suite of MTBE,
DIPE, TAME, ETRE an J TBA by method 8260 is going to be required by PHS/E"D. This
testing was not being ired at the time that the bids were submitted to J.M. Equipment last
year w was not included the costs.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this project. Our client, Geo. Corp., and J.M.
