In the early
1970's Quimby purchased the property from Crandle and operated J.M. Equipment which is
an equipment sales and service business. In 1991 the property was transferred from Quimby
to Geo Corp. Apparently the tanks were installed during the time Quimby operated a John
Deer facility and J.M. Equipment continued to operate them until they were removed in the
early 1980s.
` The work performed to date is summarized below*:
• Early 1980's—Two (500— 1000 gallon) USTs removed.
+•- • July 1995—Monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3 installed at the adjacent 1145
W. Charter Way parcel.
• July 1996 — Monitoring well MW-8 installed at the adjacent 1145 W. Charter Way
parcel.
• September 1996 — Monitoring well MW-9 installed on subject site for the adjacent
1145 W. Charter Way parcel.
• April 1999 — Three groundwater monitoring wells installed (MW-4 through MW-6),
two 15' hand borings advanced (SB-1, SB-5), three 31' borings drilled (SB-2, SB-3,
SB-4), one 70' boring advanced (SB-109) at subject site; five monitoring wells at
1145 W. Charter Way transferred to subject site (the above noted MW-1, MW-2,
MW-3,MW-8 and MW-9).
• September 2000—receptor well survey completed.
• May 2001 — A 25' soil boring installed (SB-6), two shallow 30' monitoring wells
installed (MW-7, MW-10), one deep 80' monitoring well installed(MW-109).
,., • February 2004- three shallow 30' GeoProbe wells installed(GP-1, GP-2, GP-3).
• March-July 2004—In-situ chemical oxidation pilot test performed at the site.
• June 2006—Three 36' soil borings advanced(SB-7, SB-8, SB-9).
• 1999 to present — quarterly groundwater sounding & sampling of sites monitoring
wells.
• February 2008—Two shallow 30' GeoProbe wells installed (GP-4, and GP-5).
+--
*Pre 1999 data from Wm.J.Hunter&Associates documentation.
The data compiled during the course of this investigation indicate that the soil and
groundwater were impacted with gasoline range petroleum hydrocarbons.
+ 2.4 ASSESSMENT OF BIPACT
2.1 Release Documentation
The former USTs were allegedly removed in the early 1980's prior to implementation of the
existing UST regulations. The San Joaquin County Public Health Department/Environmental
Health Division (SJC PHS/EHD) staff completed a "Hazardous Waste Discharge
Notification" form with an issue date of October 21, 1996. They also completed an
► "Underground Storage Tank Unauthorized Release (Leak)/Contamination Site Report" form
V
