collected from approximately 2 feet under the dispensers and 2 feet below the piping at approximately 3 to 4 feet below grade (bg). One soil sample was collected by hand from the stockpile (SP1). From soils in the auger bucket, samples were collected in a 2-inch diameter by 3-inch long brass sleeve. The sleeve was sealed by Teflon tape and polyethylene caps, and was placed in a clean, chilled,field ice chest. The auger bucket was decontaminated between samples. Samples were delivered to Alpha Scientific Corporation of Cerritos, California (ELAP Certificate Number 2633). Samples were silty sands and sandy silts, with some silty clays.These soils are characteristic of sediments laid down by stream deposition in alluvial environments. Fragments of brick were found in several samples, indicating the soil had previously been disturbed. Laboratory Analyses and Results The laboratory was instructed to analyze the soil samples fortotal petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-gas) and methanol using United States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) Method 8015, for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) including benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (13TEX), 1-2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA), ethylene dibromide (EDB), and the oxygenates methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE), ethyl tertiary butyl ether (ETBE), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME), tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA), and ethanol using U.S. EPA Method 826013, and for total lead using U.S. EPA 6010. Samples with compounds reported by the laboratory above the method detection limit (MDL) are tabulated below. No methanol, 1,2-DCA, EDB, TAME, DIPE, ETBE, TBA, or ethanol were reported in any of the samples collected. Certified analytical results and the chain-of-custody forms are attached.
