26 September 2005
AGE-NC Project No. 05-1329
(CTEL),a State of California Department of Health Services-certified laboratory. Selected soil and
the ground water samples collected from borings B1 through B3 were analyzed for:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline,Diesel and motor oil(TPH-g, TPH-d
and TPH-mo) in accordance with EPA Method 8015M;
• Volatile organic compounds, including benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes
(BTEX)and the fuel additives methyl-tert-butyl ether(MTBE),tertiary butyl alcohol(TBA),
di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary butyl ether (ETBE),tertiary amyl methyl ether
(TAMM),1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA)and 1,2-dibromoethane (EDB) in accordance with
EPA Method 8260 Modified.; and
• CAM 17 Metals in accordance with EPA Method 6010B.
FINDINGS
Field observations detected hydrocarbons odors and the presence of volatile organic compounds
(utilizing the PID) in soil boring 131 and B3 at the following concentrations 12 parts per million by
volume(ppmv)(BI-15),31 mg/1(B1-20), 126 mg/1(BI-25),50 mg/l(133-20)and 13 mg/1(B3-25).
Analytical results of three soil samples selected for analysis detected contaminants of concern in soil
boring B1 and B3. TPH-g was detected in soil samples collected from boring Bl and B3 at
concentrations of 34 milligrams per kilogram(mg/kg) (131-20) and 1.1 mg/kg(B3-20). TPH-d was
detected in boring 131 at a concentration of 150 mg/kg(B 1-20).Ethyl benzene was detected in boring
B1 and B3 at concentrations of 1.5 mg/kg(BI-20) and 0.024 mg/kg(133-20). Xylene was detected
in boring 131 a concentration of 0.041 mg/kg (131-20).
CAM 17 metals barium, copper, vanadium and zinc were detected in soil samples collected from
boring B1 through B3 at maximum concentrations of 73 mg/kg (132-20), 8.5 mg/kg (131-20),
8.4 mg/kg(132-20)and 31 mg/kg(B 1-20),respectively.However,the concentrations fell within the
range of background concentrations for these metals in California soils and well below the total
threshold limit concentrations (TTLC) for hazardous waste established by the State of California.
Analytical results of three ground water samples collected for analysis detected contaminants of
concern in soil boring B 1 and B3. TPH-g was detected in the samples collected from boring Bl and
B3 at concentrations of 29,000 micrograms per liter (µg/1) (B1) and 1,100 µg/1 (133). TPH-d was
detected in boring B 1 and B3 at a concentrations of 22,000µg/1(B 1)and 8,800µg/1(B3).BTEX was
detected in boring 131 and B3 at maximum concentrations of 620 µg/1 benzene, 240 µg/1 toluene,
440 µg/1 ethyl benzene and 130 pg/I xylene all in the sample collected from boring B 1. MTBE was
detected in boring B 1 through B3 at concentrations ranging from 760 µg/1(B 1)to 10 µg/1(B2).The
Ad•anced GeoEnvironmentel,Inc
