CONTAINMENT <br /> SQLUTIQ <br /> NS <br /> A DENALI COMPANY <br /> PLEASE REVIEW THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION AND FORWARD TO YOUR <br /> FIELD SUPERVISOR TO AVOID DELAYS . ANY DELAYS ON SITE DUE TO <br /> PERSONNEL OR TANK(S) NOT PREPARED PROPERLY WILL INCREASE JOB <br /> COST. <br /> Under;:round Tank Entre For Inspection or Remanufacturing Page I of 3 <br /> 1. Reinforce or shore sides of excavation so pad will not undermine, and material will not <br /> migrate into excavated hole (per OSHA Standard 1926.650 through 1926.652) <br /> - Entry throu;h encap - will require one half of endcap diameter exposed. The area <br /> excavated should start where the end cap begins to curve downward. Dig down 4', back 6'. <br /> and 8' wide. (See drawing attached) <br /> - Entry through manway - already installed in tank, will require the removal of all <br /> pumps or vents installed in the manway lid. The full 22" diameter man"lay opening will be <br /> utilized for tank entry, so it cannot be obstructed in any way Loosen the manway cover <br /> before the Technician arrives on site, <br /> ?. Tank must be empty- of fuel ( within 1" of bottom of tank ) - .Note: The Technician will <br /> vent the tank to atmosphere to lower explosion levels in the tank to less than 10% LEL. <br /> Get the tank as empty as possible. The more product removed from the tank will reduce the <br /> time required by the technician to vent. <br /> 3. An open top 55 gallon drum must be provided for Technician's use for removing or <br /> soaking up any residual product left in the tank. This drum is considered hazardous waste, <br /> and will be the responsibility of the owner or contractor to dispose of accordingly. If the <br /> tank is extremely dirty, you may be rtquired to contract the services of a tank cleaning <br /> company. <br /> 4. A safety person must be available to assist the Technician at all times, This person must <br /> be clean shaven, and able to speak English, This person must have no other duties other <br /> than assisting and monitoring the Technician, This person is supplied by the owner or <br /> contractor. The same safety person should be assigned each day. This will minimize the <br /> time required instructing the safety person on proper procedures and policies. <br /> NOTE: The safety person MUST have a completion of 40 HOURS OF TRAINING <br /> IN THE FIELD APPLICATIONS OF HEALTH AND SAFETY in compliance with <br /> OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER). <br />
