Ms. Carol Oz <br /> August 12, 1999 Project 791700 <br /> Page 5 <br /> ANALYTICAL RESULTS <br /> Soil samples collected from beneath the USTs, product delivery piping, and dispensers <br /> were submitted as discrete samples, and soil samples collected from the soil stockpile <br /> were submitted for compositing four to one at the laboratory accompanied by chain of <br /> custody documentation. Samples were analyzed for the following parameters consistent <br /> With SJCPHS requirements: <br /> • Total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHG) using U.S. Environmental <br /> Protection Agency(USEPA) Method 8015M <br /> • Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) using USEPA Method <br /> 8020 <br /> • Methyl-tert-butyl ether(MTBE) using USEPA Method 8020 <br /> • Oxygenates [tertiary butanol, MTBE, di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary <br /> butyl ether (ETBE), and tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME)] using USEPA <br /> Method 8260 <br /> • Total lead USEPA Method 7420 <br /> Tank Excavation Soil Samples <br /> Analytical results indicate petroleum hydrocarbon impacts are present along the base of <br /> the northern and southwestern parts of the former UST complex at depths of 17 feet b s. <br /> TPHG was detected in 4 samples at concentrations ranging from 240 to 11,000 milligrams <br /> per kilogram (mg/kg). The highest concentration of TPHG was detected in sample T-2-N. <br /> Benzene was detected in one sample, T-3-N, at a concentration of 0.19 m <br /> gl was detected in each of the six samples at concentrations ranging from 9.2 o 272 m /k MTBE <br /> The highest MTBE concentration was detected in sample T-1-N. TAME was detected n <br /> two samples, T-1-N and T-3-N, at concentrations of 2.36 and 0.418 mg/kg respective) . <br /> Total lead was detected in three tank pit soil samples ranging from 12.2 to 63.9 mg .y <br /> See Table 1 for analytical results and Appendix C for copies of certified analytical reports.g. <br /> In addition to the soil samples collected at the base of the UST complex, <br /> ewall <br /> samples were collected at eighteen feet bgs. The side wall samples were collected from <br /> the north, south, east, and west side walls of the excavation. TPHG was detected in two <br /> sidewall samples (SW-N and SW-W) at concentrations of 364 and 1,840 mg/kg <br /> respectively.
